Another great meal at a local fav-

The sushi is always great, tonight the mackerel sashimi was outstanding. If you want a bunch of heavy sweet sauces and tons of rice, this is not your place...move on. Hai brings in high-quality fish for those who know what they like. Ask him what is good that day and he will let you know. I was cold and had a simple bowl of pho tonight- always a nice choice. My husband's assortment of mackerel, tuna, salmon, and unagi was fresh and excellent as usual- again the raw mackerel was the star. We have been coming here since he opened- a great local favorite.

I still adore Hai's with all my heart. I eat there at least once a week. I cannot say it enough this is the best sushi in Nashville.

Pro tip: check the specials board when you walk in for new rolls that aren't on the printed menu. I have expanded my sushi choices to include the fancy roll and the Belmont roll from said specials menu. Try the ginger salad, the ginger dressing has a hint of peanut and the leftover dressing goes great on sushi or a side of rice.

Hai is just the sweetest man and really cares about his craft of sushi creation. The whole staff will take good care of you. If you have not eaten at Hai's yet you are missing out. Go to Hai's right now!

My favorite sushi place in town!

I am a huge sushi fiend, I probably eat sushi 4-5 times a week and this is my go-to place. Yes, it is down the street from me so connivence plays a factor, however, the quality of sushi is great as well.

My go-to's are a salmon hand roll, green dragon, rainbow roll and the lovely roll! Highly suggest all of them.  Hai is friendly and great at what he does, you will usually see him behind the sushi bar.

Go check out this place out and support a local business.

Great food and great service! Fish was fresh and melted in your mouth. It definitely is off the beaten path but completely worth it.

My experience with Hai's was a bit lackluster but I can't tell if it was just me not ordering the right thing. If you look at the photo of the Tuna Salad roll I got it *looks* amazing. *Looks*. However, the tuna was not the melt-in-your-mouth fresh that I was hoping for. When I get a roll with raw sushi the freshness of the fish really needs to shine since there's no fallback of the tempura or cream cheese to mask the flavor. If I was rating on presentation alone then it would be a 5--beautifully presented and a work of art. Since this roll was tuna, cucumber and a very light ponzu there just seemed to be something missing. It was like a was waiting for some taste to hit me and there wasn't the *umami* moment I was hoping for. It was bland. I also got miso soup and a small house salad and both of these were fine but the standard you'd get anywhere else.

Service was good. Our server was attentive. The restaurant is small and very casual. It was a good choice for a weeknight dinner since there weren't a lot of people and we were seated right away. Also, the prices are very reasonable.

Perhaps I'll be back to give it another try to *wow* me. Perhaps not.
